Design a New Light Display for the Glittering Lights 2021 Season; Kids Aged 6 to 16 Are Invited to Participate in the Competition

Glittering Lights gives local kids the opportunity to put their own touch on the fan-favorite holiday light show. Kids aged 6 to 16 are invited to design a light display for the upcoming year’s Glittering Lights experience. 

“I’ve heard the ‘ooh’s’ and ‘ahh’s’ from kids as they look out the window when driving through the lights,” says Glittering Lights event producer John Bentham. “This contest is the perfect way for one lucky winner to see their creativity and inspiration come to life in a Vegas holiday show.”

Submissions must be entered by Feb. 20 for a March Madness tournament-style voting process on social media. The display does not have to be holiday related, but contestants are asked to share why they chose their display and what it represents. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship, see their display in lights for the duration of the upcoming season, and receive additional ‘glittering’ perks. 

Holiday lovers can visit Glittering Lights for one last festive drive until Sunday, Jan. 10 before the attraction closes until Nov. 2021. 

Contest Details 
Submission Guidelines

• Contest submissions must be entered by Feb. 20, 2021. Winners will be decided through a ‘Glittering Lights March Madness’ tournament-style voting process on social media.
• Entries must be posted to Instagram and tagged with @lasvegaslights and #GLMarchMadness
• Entry must be sent to glitteringlights@ivorystar.com with contestant’s name, email, and Instagram handle, along with a description of their design and why they selected it. 
• By submitting you are agreeing to letting us use your design in a Glittering Lights custom light display, and on the Glittering Lights website and social media accounts. 
• Glittering Lights reserves the right to modify the submitted design based on manufacturing limitations.

Design Guidelines

• Be as creative as you’d like. Love pizza? Love reindeer? Outer space? Monster trucks? Design it!  
• Design cannot contain obscene language or imagery. Design does not have to be holiday related, but can be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. themed. 

First Place Prize 

• See your design in lights! The design will be created by our team of light experts and displayed for the duration of the 2021/22 Glittering Lights season.
• Receive a $500 scholarship and a $50 Grimaldi’s Pizzeria gift card. 
• Receive a Glittering Lights Season Pass for the 2021/22 Glittering Lights season.
• Drive through on VIP Night in November 2021 (if the pandemic permits group gathering) to take a special photo with your design, and get recognized in front of Glittering Lights partners and friends! 
• Be featured on Glittering Lights website and social media. 

Runner-Up Prize

• Receive a $200 scholarship and a $50 Grimaldi’s Pizzeria gift card. 
• Receive a Glittering Lights Season Pass for the 2021/22 Glittering Lights season. 
• Drive through on Glittering Lights VIP Night in November 2021 (if the pandemic permits group gathering) and get recognized in front of Glittering Lights partners and friends!

A portion of every ticket sold benefits Speedway Children’s Charities, providing funding for hundreds of children’s charities throughout Southern Nevada that meet the direct needs of children.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada offers a $5 discounted entry voucher for Glittering Lights with a donation of clothing or household items. Area Boy Scout Troops sell concessions at the lights to gain interpersonal, money management and leadership skills while earning money for their activities.
