Miles Reynolds recently presented at the annual Sport Court international conference, discussing how he grew his business 242% in the past two years
A Las Vegas entrepreneur and owner of Sport Court Las Vegas revamped operations in the past two years and grew business 242%, after growth was stagnant the previous five.
To achieve these results, Miles Reynolds, who owns the Southern Nevada Sport Court franchise, hired a business coach, participated in a business mastermind group, and focused on improving the whole customer experience. Reynolds streamlined processes, went paperless, and hired the right personalities for the roles he needed filled.
“Today, I can say our processes are very fine tuned, step by step from when someone first calls us, all the way through project completion,” he said. “We do a lot of gifting and social proof. There’s no doubt people investing in their homes during COVID did propel us, but we are now all about telling our story and not being a face-less company, too.”
The success was also noteworthy because Reynolds operates one of Sport Court’s smallest territories. His business growth impressed Sport Court leaders so much they asked him to speak at the organization’s biannual international convention in February, in Mexico. There, he shared his business and personal stories, and reflected on how he always loved the product he sold for nearly two decades, but how he’s now more in tune than ever with its value proposition.
His path to business success wasn’t short on challenges, even life-threatening ones, he added. In 2015, he was diagnosed with colon cancer, resulting in surgeries and extensive chemotherapy, along with a huge pile of medical bills.
“It was a challenging time. Our office flooded that year, I had treatment, we incurred a lot of debt, then COVID hit. We were really in a place where we needed to make a change,” he recalled. As families began focusing on home improvement during the pandemic, Reynolds recognized he needed business structures in place to thrive.
“We had the product, we had the expertise, we just needed the team. We weren’t really in touch with our core values. I wasn’t a big fan of that. I thought it was something you just put on the wall, but we really needed to dial that all in. The Sport Court product has always been the Mercedes of our industry; however, I decided I wanted the customer experience to be at that same standard of excellence,” Reynolds said.
Today, Reynolds appreciates how installing Sport Court in any backyard creates a gathering space for friends and families.
“With these courts, once you install one, your place immediately becomes the neighborhood hangout,” he added. “That’s exactly what my house is in my neighborhood and I’m proud of that. I know where my kids are; they’re not plugged into technology, they’re in a safe place getting exercise, and I think that’s great.”
