National Meatball Day is on March 9 and you’ll want to visit Trattoria Reggiano, located in Downtown Summerlin and Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian.
The restaurant is inspired by the narrow trattorias in Rome with family recipes from Italy, including their house-made meatballs.
Trattoria Reggiano’s house-made meatball recipe originated from Great Grandmother Rose Bonanno’s kitchen in Gibellina in Sicily. It has been passed down three generations of the Bonanno’s family. The Sicilian-style recipe uses a traditional three-meat blend combining pork, veal and beef, garlic, Italian parsley and Reggiano Parmigiano cheese. Gently blended by hand and baked in the oven to perfection, the tasty meatballs will transport you back to Nonna Rose Bonanno’s kitchen, where they would be served with tomato sauce (also known as “gravy” to Southern Italians), every Sunday for dinner.
