Las Vegas on a Budget: Tips + Cheap Things to Do

Most people believe that in order to have a great time in Vegas and experience this city in full, you need a lot of money on your credit card, or at least Lady Luck on your side.

However, rocking Sin City doesn’t have to break the bank. If your dream is to visit Las Vegas and have a blast, do not put off that trip any longer. With these tips, you will learn how to see Vegas on a budget. Also, we have created a list of things you can do in this city that won’t make you empty your pockets.

Look for low-cost flights

Believe it or not, flights to Vegas are usually really affordable. In fact, buying a plane ticket may be the least of your expenses. Look for airlines that offer great deals, and do not forget to check the luggage fee.

Do not rent a car

Parking in Vegas can cost you a fortune. While before most hotels offer free parking, nowadays that is not the case. Therefore, see if your hotel offers a free shuttle from the airport. If not, you can get a bus pass from a ticket machine. If, on the other hand, you are traveling to Vegas by car, find a hotel that has great parking rates, or stay at an Airbnb that has free parking.

Getting around the city

Keep in mind that The Strip is 4.5 miles long, so even if you are planning to see everything it offers, you will be doing a lot of walking. In the notorious desert heat, that is not something you want to do. Although transportation is known to be very expensive in Las Vegas, there are several ways you can get around the city without spending all of your money on tickets and fares. First of all, avoid taxis as they are really overpriced. Instead, take a Lyft or an Uber. You can also take The Deuce, a double-decker bus that runs up and down the Vegas strip, or take the Las Vegas monorail.

Find cheap hotels

Gambling at the online ideal casino comes with a ton of benefits, but if you miss the smell of the old brick-and-mortar casino, there are plenty of rooms in Vegas you can book. Luckily, a lot of them are not at all expensive, especially if you are not traveling during a busy time. Before you hit the road, do your homework and find a room for you. Check several booking platforms and compare prices on them. Also, make sure you pay attention to the resort fee. This hidden cost can catch you by surprise and put you in an uncomfortable situation. Be aware that most hotels have a resort fee that goes toward parking, and using the hotel pool and other amenities. If you wish to save even more money, consider staying there during weekdays.

Cheap things to do in Vegas

Now that you know how you will travel and where you will sleep, let’s take a look at some amazing Vegas-y things you can do that won’t leave you broke. The Bellagio fountain show is one of the Vegas trademarks, and seeing this water dance is completely free. After you have enjoyed this magical performance on the Las Vegas strip, you can check out the Vegas garage art. The Cosmopolitan lets artists use the walls of their parking garage as a canvas, so do not miss out on amazing murals. You can mingle with mimes or visit Las Vegas Park. You might want to consider taking time to see the biggest selection of Western Boots in Sam’s Town Casino or taking a photo in front of the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. If you wish to get out of the city for a few hours, be sure to go hiking in the Red Rock Canyon. In case you have never been to Paris, you can still visit the Eiffel Tower, right there in Vegas.

Now, pack your bags, because Vegas is waiting for you!
