Legendary Las Vegas Bakery to Celebrate Grand Opening of Dessert Shop in Las Vegas Arts District
Freed’s Bakery, Las Vegas bakery of over 60 years and subject of Food Network’s hit show, “Vegas Cakes,” is bringing its signature sweets to Downtown Las Vegas with the opening of a new Freed’s Dessert Shop, the company’s boutique patisserie concept offering an array of decadent pastries, cookies and more. A grand opening celebration will begin at 10:45am with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9.
Located at 60 E. California Ave., the shop will be the company’s sixth location and its fourth Freed’s Dessert Shop. The family-owned bakery was established in Las Vegas in 1959 and now has locations throughout Las Vegas, including inside T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium. Freed’s Bakery also offers nationwide shipping.
“We couldn’t have imagined this exciting growth when my family opened Freed’s Bakery in Las Vegas over 60 years ago,” said Max Jacobson-Fried, third generation owner of Freed’s Bakery & Dessert Shop. “The downtown community in Las Vegas is incredibly strong and innovative and we are thrilled to be joining such a fantastic neighborhood.”
The grand opening celebration will begin at 10:45 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Las Vegas Mayor, Carolyn Goodman, at 11 a.m.
The 888-square-foot Freed’s Dessert Shop will offer signature pastries, cookies and other baked goods, including Freed’s strawberry shortcake, delicate white cake filled and iced with sweetened whipped cream and fresh sliced strawberries; cannoli, pastry dough filled with a blend of sweet ricotta, cinnamon, and chocolate chips; and Parisian cake, rich chocolate cake layered and iced with Belgian chocolate blended whipped cream and topped with chocolate shavings. Custom orders, including wedding cakes, birthday cakes and more, will be facilitated by the company’s 8,500-square-foot full-service flagship store, Freed’s Bakery, located at 9815 S. Eastern Ave.
The downtown dessert shop will feature a mural by Shan Michael Evans, local Las Vegas artist, inspired by Freed’s signature desserts.
Freed’s Dessert Shop’s downtown location is now open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week and is located in the Corner Building at the intersection of California Ave and Main St. Orders may be placed by visiting www.FreedsBakery.com or by calling Freed’s Bakery at 702-456-7762.
