On Tuesday, House of Blues headliner Carlos Santana was joined by Henderson Mayor Debra March as they visited the home of Reuben Nieves, a homeowner through the Habitat for Humanity program.
The group came together to unveil the placement of a PEACE-designed bench in Reuben’s front yard. The “PEACE” bench is part of a series of benches that local artist Justin Lepper of Vegas Murals and wood and metal artist Kerm Sablan created in honor of Santana’s long running show at House of Blues.
Creating the bench and placing it in the new Pittman community developed by Habitat for Humanity is a way for neighbors to gather, share a cup of coffee, and get to know each other. A fun and artful way to give back to the community.
Carlos and the Mayor then walked to the Phase 2 construction site where they wrote some messages of encouragement for future homeowners. Carlos’ message – “Change your mind, change your destiny.” is a great message for the future homeowners.
