The Helms Helps Foundation Kicks off $20,000 Matching Campaign for the Non-Profit
Serving our Kids Foundation (SOK) is excited to announce a Drive-thru Food Drive/Collection at the SOK Warehouse in Henderson from 9:00am to Noon. Supporters are encouraged to purchase items from the approved food donation list and drop off on Saturday, utilizing the contactless and delivery drive-thru operated by volunteers.
Approved Food Items Donation List
The food items directly benefit the at-risk and homeless kids experiencing food insecurities in the Vegas Valley. The on-going Weekend Meal Bag project is SOK’s core program, and provides bags of food to at-risk and homeless schoolchildren in elementary and middle schools throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
Preparing foods for kids
The program’s target audience are food-insecure schoolchildren in grades K-8th. The school children are referred to SOK directly through the schools which they attend.
Serving Our Kids serves more than 4,600 schoolchildren, in over 185 schools, each and every week.
Crisis packs are also available for $20 each online at servingourkids.org and include the following items: 2 Oatmeal Packs, 2 Granola Bars, 1 Apple Sauce, 1 Ramen Noodle Pack, 1 Cheese & Cracker and 1 Ravioli.
Helms Helps Foundation has also partnered with Serving Our Kids to raise funds for its Weekend & After-School Meals programs in support of local at-risk and homeless children dealing with food insecurity and chronic hunger in our community. During the month of October, the Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign and will match every donation received, up to $20,000, through October 31, 2021. Serving Our Kids Golf Tournament
Additionally, Serving our Kids Foundation is also hosting its 10th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, November 6th at the Legacy Golf Club from 6:30am – 5:30 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s tournament will be a bit different, as we incorporate social distancing guidelines, which includes 16 golf teams. Golf entries include 18 holes of golf, lunch, amazing raffle prizes and a silent auction and are available for $150.00/individual or $550.00/foursome, with sponsorships ranging from $3- $5,000. Serving Our Kids hopes to bridge the gap to the more than 9,000 remaining children to be served and to help feed both homeless and at-risk children in southern Nevada. with a mission to stamp out Childhood Hunger.
