More than 400 community support front-line staff and America First Credit Union members were treated to UNLV football, as the Rebel’s battled against Eastern Washington in the first college football game with full-capacity at Allegiant Stadium.
Employees from Just One Project and Lutheran Social Services of Nevada enjoyed the 54th season-opening game, courtesy of America First Credit Union. The credit union also helped host youth and employees from the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada.
“We are honored to partner with UNLV Athletics to demonstrate our appreciation to community support front-line staff and our dedicated members,” said AFCU president and CEO, Thayne Shaffer. “To the local front-line staff who keep this city recovering during the pandemic: we see you, celebrate you, and thank you.”
The credit union, which has 16 branches in Nevada, has an extensive history of supporting the community including annual food drives and shoe donations to children in need. In October 2019, the credit union donated 300 UNLV football tickets to the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center to honor 1 October survivors. During the Rebels’ 49th and final season playing at Sam Boyd Stadium, it recognized the Resiliency Center and survivors on the field.
America First Credit Union is the official credit union of UNLV Athletics and holds a robust brand footprint with the Las Vegas sports industry. Partnerships include the Las Vegas Raiders, Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Aviators and the Las Vegas Lights FC.
