Las Vegas’ scorching triple-digit summer temps ended up being a very good thing for one local nonprofit!
Today, the Nevada Mining Association (NVMA) visited Diaz Elementary School to unveil a donation totaling $7,700 to After-School All-Stars, thanks to its annual Hope for Heat Campaign.
NVMA President Tyre Gray presented the check to After-School All-Stars Executive Director Jodi Manzella, as well as more than 20 students who are part of the program.
The funds will support after-school programs and boost the nonprofit’s mission of providing children with a safe space to learn, grow and succeed in both school and life.
NVMA’s Hope for Heat Campaign took place May 31-Sept. 6 — every day that the temperature reached 100 degrees in Las Vegas, the NVMA would donate $100 to After-School All-Stars. In total, the NVMA raised $20,660 for three nonprofits across Nevada – After-School All-Stars in Las Vegas, as well as the Eddy House in Reno and the Boys & Girls Club of Elko.
