“Our number one goal at Pirate Fest Las Vegas is to create an environment of fun, fantasy, and a sense of community. Pirate Fest 2020 Easter Weekend, was one of the first major Las Vegas events to be cancelled because of COVID-19; the proceeds from Pirate Fest support the non-profit, Paradise Ranch Foundation. But as difficult as it has been for the foundation, our vendors and entertainers were also hit very hard financially. With all the festivals and fairs around the United States being cancelled for the rest of the year, many of these vendors and entertainers have had no income to provide for their families,” says Stephanie Rogers, Pirate Fest Las Vegas. “Our team wanted to find a way to support these valuable members of our community and to kick off our marketing season for Pirate Fest Easter Weekend 2021.”

Paradise Ranch Foundation was founded in 2011 with the mission to provide mental health services to families in need. They provide Horse Assisted Therapy (HAT) and Interactive Behavioral Therapy to all with a focus on children with autism and our veterans with Traumatic Brain injuries and PTSD. It is well known, and research has proven that interactions with animals reduce stress, lower heart rates, and have an overall positive effect on mental health and emotional states. When we include a horse in our therapeutic sessions, they become a participating member of the therapy process. The horse is able to “tune in” to emotional states and recognize when the way you feel should be reinforced or reduced and the horse reacts accordingly.
