GALS, All Girls Charter School (6 – 8th Grade), Opens August 9, 2021, Enrolling New Students Now
Girls Athletic Leadership School, (GALS) is an all-girls tuition-free charter middle school, for 6th-8th grade, that empowers girls to succeed academically, lead confidently, live boldly and thrive physically.
This weekend, Silver State Schools Credit Union and Boy Scout Troop 912 volunteered their time to assist the GALS team with building and constructing all of the chairs, tables and desks to prepare for school opening on August 9th at their new campus behind UNLV.
“We are so appreciative to Silver State Schools Credit Union and the Boy Scout Troop 912 for getting our classrooms ready in our new campus.” said Jennifer McCloskey, the founder of GALS. “They find sisterhood here at GALS. As some of the students have expressed. The girls support one another, and so it’s a place where they can be themselves. This is a school where it’s cool to get good grades. And work to prepare themselves for the future. We are looking forward to school beginning on August 9.”
The benefits of GALS include:
- The all-girl environment provides a safe space for girls to express themselves, find their voice and reach their fullest academic potential. GALS students typically outperform academically their peers by one grade level.
- GALS takes a holistic and personal approach to developing your child’s education plan to ensure that each student is supported and challenged to grow.
- GALS students have opportunities to lead, collaborate and be a part of something greater than themselves, they and their families are part of a community and social movement to improve the lives of girls.
- GALS graduates are six times more likely to consider majoring in math, science and technology and three times more likely to consider engineering compared to girls who attend coed schools (from www.ncgs.org).
GALS is currently open for enrollment for 6th – 8th grades during the 2021-2022 school year. GALS Las Vegas provides a whole-bodied education approach to develop girls physically, academically and emotionally.
