Women in Aviation International Chapter hosts Girls in Aviation Day in 2024
The Las Vegas Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) has announced that a free program is offered to local girls ages 8 to 18 years to introduce youth to the possibilities available in a career in aviation. The day’s activities will take place at the North Las Vegas Airport, Airsmart Terminal, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9am to noon.
More than 200 girls and 100 aviation volunteers are expected to attend.
“We want our local girls to see that there are exciting careers available to them as engineers, astronauts, aircraft maintenance technicians, pilots, dispatchers, air traffic controllers, flight attendants, and dozens of other jobs within the aviation community,” says WAI Las Vegas Chapter Vice President, Michelle Miller. “We will introduce the girls to role models and educate them in a fun and supportive atmosphere.”
The Las Vegas Chapter will join Women in Aviation International chapters around the world on September 21, 2024, for an outreach event to inspire the next generation of women in aviation. Chapters all over the world are putting on their own, unique programs.
Attendees will be able to participate in hands-on activities, hear inspirational speakers, meet women working throughout the aviation and aerospace industries, and more.
The program is free for registered participants and volunteers, thanks to local sponsors MGM Resorts International, Prologis, and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. “We just want to see girls interacting with positive role models and considering aviation as they make their college and career plans.”
