Salt & Straw Announces August “Summer Picnic” Series [+ Pup Cups for National Dog Day]

“Summer Picnic” Series returns from beloved Salt & Straw ice cream. Available for the month of August, the series features five unique flavors, including the return of three fan favorites along with two new flavors from co-founder and ice cream innovator Tyler Malek that are presented as a five-course picnic. 

Available starting Friday, August 4th in scoop shops and via nationwide shipping, the “Summer Picnic” series is inspired by classic picnic flavors and is the perfect dessert option for group gatherings this month!

Flavors include: 

• Pink Rosé & Watermelon Sorbet (v) — This sorbet is made with watermelon and rosé from Sokol Blosser Winery, a family-owned vineyard in Dundee Hills, Oregon, drizzled with house-made raspberry rosé jam, creating the ultimate balance of crisp tartness and sweetness.

• Baked Brie & Fig Cheesecake — This flavor combines a house-made cheesecake made with Cowgirl Creamery’s Mt. Tam triple cream brie, a candied ritz cracker crust, and dark ribbons of thick fig jam, in a salted sweet cream ice cream base.

• Chocolate Potato Salad — Inspired by the picnic essential side dish, this flavor is made with spiced mustard ice cream that is seasoned with paprika, celery seed, and dill, and features crunchy potato chip cookies, rippled with thick chocolate fudge.

• Cinnamon & Honey Fried Chicken — This flavor is made with croissant bits that are deep fried in the fat of Ezell’s Famous Chicken, named Oprah’s favorite fried chicken. The bits are churned into a salted vanilla ice cream with a touch of cinnamon, honey, and secret spices, creating a sweet Cajun heat with pops and crackles of crispy perfection. 

• Sour Cherry Pie —  As no picnic is complete without dessert, this flavor features a salted vanilla ice cream mixed with an all-American cherry pie baked with hand-candied cherries splashed with amaretto and an almond flour crust.

Additionally, treat your pup on National Dog Day (August 26th) with Salt & Straw’s Pup Cups, human-grade deliciousness made especially for your favorite four-legged friend. The Apple & Carrots with Sweet Potato Ribbons flavor features a smooth coconut ice cream with bits of apples and carrots and a swirl of sweet potato, and is available in scoop shops and via nationwide delivery.
