There are some holiday destinations that don’t necessarily lend themselves well to a tight budget and many people would assume that Vegas falls under that umbrella. Alongside the change you’ll need for hitting the casinos, you need to save a little for buffets, plenty for a fancy hotel, and whatever you have left to hit a variety show. Thankfully, there are plenty of tips and tricks that can help to keep your Vegas vacation within budget.

Practice Ahead of Time

The main reason that most people choose to vacation in Vegas is to make use of the casinos there. It’s well known as the casino capital of the world and for those traveling on a budget, the good news is that all of the casinos are free to enter. Of course, once you’re inside you’ll want to play on some of the slot machines, or try your luck at a table game or two, so factoring in this cost into your budget is essential.

In order to make sure you get the most bang for your buck at the casino it’s a good idea to practice some of the games that you’ll want to play ahead of time. It’s possible to find every game imaginable at the top online casinos and you can snag a deposit bonus to make your cash stretch further when playing online. Sneak in a few rounds of roulette, a couple of hands of blackjack, and even a little poker and you’ll arrive in Vegas feeling ready to win.

Get Your Bearings

It’s always a good idea to familiarise yourself with your destination as soon as you arrive. There are some paid-for tours that you can go on, but a better idea is to buy yourself a Go City Explorer pass and make use of the tours and information that come with it.

You can take a tour right down the famous Las Vegas Strip. Your guide will point out a number of important locations including Fremont Street, Union Station, the Container Park, and most wonderfully, the iconic pawn shop featured on the hit television series Pawn Stars. This tour is a good way to get your bearings in the center of Vegas.

Bulk Buy Your Activities

With the Explorer Pass, you can pick 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 attractions to visit from our list of top Las Vegas sights, tours, and must-sees. Plus, with the Go City app, you’ll have all the information you need at your fingertips. We’re talking attraction information, suggested itineraries, a handy map, and more!

We think that the half-day Hoover Dam tour and a trip to Madam Tussauds are great choices, but there are dozens of activities to choose from if you’d prefer something different. Once you’ve paid for your ticket you can organize the rest of your vacation around your selected activities, but make sure you save room for our next tip!

Have Your Blowout At Lunchtime

Part of the Vegas experience is treating yourself to an enormous buffet meal. There are dozens of different buffets to choose from in Vegas, some of them will set you back hundreds of dollars, others you can get for as little as $25 each. It’s important to weigh up saving the cents with having a great experience, so choosing a well-reviewed buffet that isn’t hugely expensive is the key. A good way to bring the price down is by dining in the middle of the day, rather than at dinner time. Although the selection is a little reduced, there will still be far more food than anyone could get through.

The Bacchanal Buffet at Caesar’s Palace is available for brunch from 9 am until 1 pm and costs $64.99 for adults. This buffet is absolutely enormous and is widely regarded as one of the best in Vegas.

However, if your budget won’t stretch that far then the buffet at the MGM Grand is also delicious and only costs $27.99 for adults, making it an absolute steal. If you’re still struggling to choose then take a look at the menu ahead of time.
