Las Vegas is one of the largest tourist destinations in the world. Sin City, as it is often called, gets 43 million visitors every year, with a quarter of Brits naming it as the third city they would most like to visit. And it isn’t just the British that love Vegas.

Among Australians, Las Vegas is one of the more popular tourist destinations, especially in America. So, in this article, we are going to take a look at the reasons that an Australian might want to visit the City of Heavenly Sin.

The Casinos

Australians love gambling. It is one of the most popular hobbies in the country, with a large percentage of the Australian population having played at a casino at least once in their life. According to statistics, in 2018, Australians placed over 20 billion Australian dollars on electronic gaming machines, the lotto, or other forms of gambling. Understandably, online gambling has also gained quite a bit of following in Australia. Websites like https://www.casinoaus.net/online-poker/ have managed to accumulate quite a large fan base, and some of the most popular games include slots (or the pokies), video poker, roulette, etc.

So, with such a deeply-entrenched passion for gambling, it is no surprise that Aussies might enjoy a night of debauchery in some of the world’s finest casinos. Las Vegas houses the most popular and beloved casino and hotel proprietors around right now. Some of the biggest names include:

  • Bellagio
  • Caesars Palace
  • Planet Hollywood
  • Flamingo
  • MGM
  • Paris Las Vegas

It is precisely the splendor and grandeur of these establishments that draws in so many Australians to Las Vegas every year. Most visitors have said that the experience is worth the close-to-20-hour flight.

The Booze

If you are visiting Las Vegas, you are probably going to gamble. And you know what is great about casinos in Las Vegas? They all have an open bar. It is within the borders of Sin City that you will find some of the finest cocktails, prepared by the top mixologists in the country. You can experience years of alcoholic history in the short time it takes to finish a glass.

And if cocktails aren’t your thing, you can get anything you might like. Beer, ale, wine, or some harder liqueur. The best part? You will likely get them all for free! Most casinos offer complimentary drinks to go with your gambling. So, if you are spinning at the slots, hitting the blackjack tables, or going through a game of poker, you can have a drink in hand at little-to-no cost.

The Nature

Across the world, Las Vegas is associated with its casinos. However, there is much more that the city can offer aside from gambling. Many imagine that Las Vegas is surrounded by a boring desert. However, this could not be further from the truth. In fact, Las Vegas is home to some of the finest hiking trails in the USA. For the outdoorsy folks, the city will not disappoint.

One of the finest and most beloved hiking trails in Las Vegas is the Calico Tanks trail. Located on Red Rock Canyon, the path will take you through some gorgeous sandstone formations, fantastically colorful scenery, and a ton of people on the road, as Calico Tanks is one of Las Vegas’ most popular hiking and running destinations.

We should warn you, the route is considered moderately challenging. So, experienced hikers might be a bit disappointed. However, for casual hiking fans, this is the perfect place to explore. But, it certainly isn’t the only one. Other fantastic hiking destinations include:

  • Cathedral Rock
  • Ice Box Canyon
  • First Creek Canyon
  • Upper Bristlecone
  • White Rock Hill
