If you’re planning a trip to Vegas, you may have already started thinking about what to pack for your dream trip! But figuring out what to wear could be tricky if you’ve never been to the resort city in the desert before.
There’s daytime adventuring, shopping, and sightseeing, not to mention the casinos. How can you pack so you’ll be ready for everything without taking four suitcases?
We can help! Use the guide below to get on top of precisely what you’ll need for your holiday wardrobe and to learn how to create a stunning capsule collection that’ll streamline your packing and make jetting off a breeze!
Day to Night Wear
To maximize space in your suitcase, focus on packing clothes and accessories that can be mixed and matched to create a range of different looks quickly. During the day, you’ll need casual wear to explore the city; in most casinos, until night falls, casual is fine, too. Opt for a smart pair of jeans, shorts, fitted slacks, and a blouse or top. Alternatively, pack a couple of day dresses for a pretty look that’s relaxed, too. A pair of flat shoes is a must.
Next, think about packing a tailored white shirt, sequinned top, or sheer blouse that can be paired with your jeans to create an evening look; add an elegant heart necklace, a statement belt, and a pair of high heels, and you’ll be ready to hit the strip come evening. The day dress you packed? Give it some pizazz for the evening by adding a light chiffon shawl, pair of chandelier earrings, and a matching bracelet. The key to putting together a capsule wardrobe is ensuring that every single garment selected to be part of it will work as hard for you as possible.
Take the Temperature into Account
Vegas is in the desert, so you can be sure it will be hot! Summers are sweltering, with an average temperature hovering around 100 degrees Fahrenheit (39 degrees Celsius), so bear this in mind. Cool, lightweight clothes made from cotton are your best bet. Inside, you’ll have nothing to worry about: air-conditioning comes as standard!
You may be surprised to learn just how cold Vegas can get in the winter: expect daytime temperatures of around 30 degrees Fahrenheit (that’s just 1 degree Celsius) during this season – you’ll definitely need to pack sweaters and a warm coat.
In the spring and fall, the weather in LA is generally pleasant and warm – general summer wear will be appropriate, but take along a sweater and a pair of jeans, just in case you feel chilly when the sun sets.
Must-Bring Accessories
As we touched on above, accessories can be used to instantly transform your outfit and give you a range of different looks. As well as jewelry, though, you’ll also need to figure out which bag to take with you.
A cross-body bag is likely your best bet to use for hassle-free daytime exploring – look for a bag with anti-theft features, such as a slash-proof shell and strap, card slots with RFID protection to protect your personal details, and a locking carabiner that allows you to easily secure it to the back of a chair while you’re dining out or enjoying a show. Don’t forget to pack a small evening purse, too – one with a strap is preferable.
Unless it’s winter, you’ll also need a hat and sunglasses; in terms of the latter, make sure the pair you pack has high-quality UV protection.
What to Wear at the Pool
As well as your swimwear, it’s recommended that you pack a coverup: some hotels require that you wear one on top of your bathing suit when walking between your room and the pool.
Also, bear in mind that you may be asked to change swimwear or put on a cover-up by the staff of some pools if your swimming costume is particularly revealing.
Tips for Packing
Now you’ve figured out exactly what clothes and accessories to take, you just need to pack them in a way that’ll make the best use of the space in your case!
Packing cubes are a great way to save space in your case and get organized, too – you can transfer each case into the drawers of your hotel accommodation when you arrive. You could also use vacuum bags to create loads more space – they can cut down the space your garments take up by around 50%!
Finally, get smart with the space by stuffing socks into the cups of bras (this helps them to keep their shape, too), filling shoes with accessories and other small items, and rolling clothes instead of folding them.
