Gala and Show to be Held at the Boman Outdoor Pavilion in Spring Mountain Ranch State Park
Super Summer Theatre (SST) will conclude the 2022 Summer Season with RETRO 45 – a celebration of SST’s first 45 years presenting affordable, family-friendly entertainment under the stars with a gala and show on Thursday, September 15th.
Originally scheduled for 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, this evening of fun, food, libations, cheer, and performances will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy songs from past Super Summer Theatre shows performed by a line-up of SUPER SUMMER stars. This fundraising performance is essential to the success of SST as regular show tickets and concessions account for only 70% of the costs to produce a season.
The benefit celebration will feature songs and memories from SST’s first 45 years including a performance by retired local cardiologist and philanthropist Dr. Keith Boman, who will also be honored during the evening for his longstanding commitment to the arts in Southern Nevada. Wynn Resorts, Limited will also be recognized for their leadership support of SST.
Dr. Boman will rekindle a number he performed when he was a student at Clark High School, in 1967, in their production of OKLAHOMA, staged at Las Vegas High School’s Auditorium. Dr. Boman has said performing in that show changed his life. “I remember feeling part of something so grand,” recalls Dr. Boman. “It sparked a candle in my life, and I’ve never forgotten it.”
Super Summer Theatre has come a long way since the curtain first went up in 1976 with a run of Shakespeare plays performed by actors who doubled as ticket agents and passed the microphone to one another. Since then, more than 1.2 Million patrons have thrown down a blanket in the Meadow, shared a picnic dinner with friends, and enjoyed great theatre under the stars.
Super Summer Theatre is committed to keeping costs down and ticket and educational class prices affordable. Over 200,000 youth have been introduced to the magic of the performing arts because of SST. Their families could not afford the cost of commercial productions.
Tickets for the RETRO 45 benefit performance are $45, and VIP tickets and tables are also available. VIP tickets and tables include reserved seating, a reception with a silent auction, a gourmet barbeque dinner, and drinks. All proceeds will benefit the artistic and educational programs of Super Summer Theatre.
The Boman Outdoor Pavilion, Super Summer Theatre’s outdoor venue, is located at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, just 10 miles west of the 215/West Charleston intersection or 5 miles east of the intersection of Hwy 159 and Hwy 160, just past Blue Diamond.
