With the approval of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, 100 invited guests were given the opportunity to attend the most recent Top Rank Boxing event inside the MGM Grand Conference Center’s Grand Ballroom.
Under a pilot test of MGM Resorts’ “Convene with Confidence” plan for sports and entertainment – these invited guests participated in a multi-layered screening process – that incorporated the CLEAR Health Pass.
The process included rapid on-site COVID-19 testing with results delivered in approximately 20 minutes.
Convene with Confidence is a comprehensive health and safety plan — initially introduced in September and designed to resume meetings and conventions safely at MGM Resorts properties throughout the United States.
Top Rank fights have been taking place in a controlled environment – or “bubble” at the MGM Grand Conference Center — since June and broadcast live on ESPN.
These Top Rank boxing events will continue to be closed to the general public, with only essential fight camp members and event staff permitted inside the venue.
John Flynn, VP of Administration, MGM Resorts: “It’s another big deal for us and another step in the right direction. This was the first real test of Convene with Confidence when it comes to sports. By all estimations, it was a big success. It was just an exciting accomplishment for the sports community, MGM Resorts, Las Vegas and Nevada. We couldn’t have done it without our great partners at Top Rank, Brad Jacobs, their COO, a fantastic partner and Bob Bennett at the Nevada State Athletic Commission. There was just fantastic team work across the board. I can’t say enough about the MGM Grand team that rallied together and helped pull this off. I think that what this demonstrated is that Convene with Confidence works – and we’re excited to see where we can go with this next.”
