The Las Vegas Aviators defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 8-2, on Sunday afternoon in game four of the five-game series before a crowd of 6,084 at Las Vegas Ballpark. OKC leads the series, 3-games-to-1.
Las Vegas hit three home runs to secure the victory. First baseman Carlos Pérez (2-for-3, walk, double) hit his league-leading 31st home run (three-run HR) in the fifth inning to increase Las Vegas’ lead to 5-1.
Left fielder Marty Bechina (2-for-4) hit a solo home run in the second inning and catcher Collin Theroux (2-for-4, double, two runs scored) added a solo home run in the third inning.
Aviators right-hander Brian Howard recorded his seventh victory with 6.0 solid innings. He allowed 4 hits, 1 run, walked 1 and struck out 5 on 97 pitches (63 strikes).
Oklahoma City first baseman Sheldon Neuse was 2-for-4.
The final home game of the season is Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Las Vegas Ballpark.
Following an off day on Tuesday, September 28, the Aviators will then conclude the 2021 campaign with a five-game Northern Nevada road trip against intrastate rival, the Reno Aces, from Wednesday-Sunday, September 29 – October 3.
