Move 4 Less created Kickoff for Kids to support the nonprofit organization and celebrate Las Vegas having a professional football team during the Las Vegas Raiders inaugural season.
Move 4 Less donated $500 per Raiders win and other funds based on game statistics for losses. With the Raiders 8-8 record, Move 4 Less contributed $6,327. The community also was invited to participate. OS Construction gave $2,000; Hausbeck Brand, $500; and other individuals donated for a total of $9,042.
When Kickoff for Kids was announced at the beginning of the NFL season, Move 4 Less brought Raiders gear and snacks to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth Drop-In Center for youth clients in the organization’s Independent Living Program and youth in its emergency shelters.
“Southern Nevada, and all of Nevada, has a really bad issue with youth homelessness ‒ one of the most significant in the country ‒ so thank you to Move 4 Less for taking a leadership role by organizing the incredible Kickoff for Kids fundraiser,” said Arash Ghafoori, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth executive director. “It not only benefitted homeless youth but brought more attention to this really important issue, and this contribution came at a critical time, particularly with COVID.”
Kickoff for Kids is a continuation of Move 4 Less’ Moving Our Community philanthropic initiative. The program encompasses helping nonprofit organizations, including moving essential items related to their beneficiaries, and moving families affected by COVID-19, who need to relocate from their current residence, at no cost to them. Move 4 Less owners are paying for Moving Our Community recipient moves.
“Kickoff for Kids has been a meaningful and fun way for us support the tireless work of Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth in helping young people with basics survival needs and programs that can lead to a path of self-sufficiency,” said Eyrick Gibson, Move 4 Less general sales manager. “We’ re so glad the community joined Kickoff for Kids, and particularly OS Construction for its ‘fourth quarter’ donation to get us to our goal, and we look forward to doing it again and cheering for our hometown football team.”
There are thousands of young people experiencing homelessness in Clark County, who lack the traditional family setting, guidance, and support for basic food, clothing, shelter, and certain activities and experiences.
