Powerhouse Middle Blocker Molly McCage Makes Her Presence Known with 14 Kills
This week in Omaha, Las Vegas’ first professional volleyball team, the Vegas Thrill, secured its first win of the inaugural 2024 season in a clinching 5-set victory over the Omaha Supernovas at CHI Health Center.
Powerhouse middle blocker Molly McCage played a crucial role in securing the team’s victory, making her presence known on the court with 14 kills.
“Last night was incredibly rewarding! You could tell the last three weeks of training built a lot of trust within this team,” says McCage. “All of our rookies came to compete, and it was honestly just a blast getting to finally play in this league.”
Guided by volleyball veteran head coach Fran Flory, the Vegas Thrill clinched the 3-2 win (19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 15-12) with powerful moves by Kylie Murr, Gabby Gonzales and Hannah Maddux. The rookies made a strong debut as standout playmakers throughout the match.
Vegas Thrill and Omaha gear up for round two next week as the team’s home opener is set for Feb. 15 against the Supernovas at The Dollar Loan Center.
“We put this team together really quickly and for us to come on the road and get this win, I mean I couldn’t be prouder of everyone wearing the Thrill jersey and whoever is wearing Thrill on them today,” said Flory.
Vegas Thrill is one of seven U.S. teams for the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation season in 2024, while Dallas, Indianapolis and Kansas City have been announced as 2025 expansion teams. In 2024, Vegas Thrill will play 24 matches which include 12 at home and 12 on the road in the regular season.
