Nov. 30 – Dec. 1 | WinterFest Tree Lighting, Drone Show and Holiday Light Parade | Water Street Plaza and along Water Street
Start celebrating the holidays on Water Street at Henderson’s annual Tree Lighting with The Mayor and the Winterfest Holiday Light Parade. New this year, is a special drone show in the sky. Enjoy as a spectator or join in on the fun and create a spectacular lighted entry for the parade where you will have a chance to win a cash prize! Festivities are free for spectators; fee applies for parade entry.
Dec. 2 and 23 | Merry Grinchmas | Bark Park in Heritage Park
Bring out your furry friends for a Grinchy good time. Participants will get to interact with the Grinch and take photos with their pups. We will also have festive treats and pop up agility courses for your pets to enjoy. Registration is $4 per pup when purchased in advance and $5 the day of.
Saturday, Dec. 2 | Kalani Pe’a Hawaiian Christmas Concert | Water Street Plaza Amphitheater
Join us for a Christmas concert like no other, featuring the incomparable talents of Grammy-Award-winning artist, Kalani Pe’a. This special performance is a celebration of the warmth and special “aloha” of the holiday season, sharing much-loved songs from both Western and Hawaiian roots. Tickets are $15.
Friday, Dec. 8 | Cosmic Swim Winter Wonderland | Henderson Multigenerational Center
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Enjoy a festive cosmic-themed night at the pool full of winter activities. Your interstellar aquatic experience includes music, lights, and glow gear. Fun for the whole family! Registration is $5.
Friday, Dec. 8 | Griswold Family Holiday Party | Valley View Recreational Center
“Nobody’s walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas.” Come dressed as your favorite Griswold character (or neighbor) and partake in fun family festivities like cornhole, Pictionary with a twist, barrel pong, awkward family photo ops and a good ol’ tree lighting. Light refreshments will be provided. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult. “We’re gonna have the Hap-Hap-Happiest Christmas.” Registration is $6 per person.
Friday, Dec. 8 | Djangobells Christmas Concert | Water Street Plaza Amphitheater
You’ve never heard holiday music performed quite like this! Back by popular demand, Water Street Plaza Amphitheater hosts Djangobells—A Holiday Jazz Experience with live performances by the John Jorgenson Quintet and Tatiana Eva Marie. Tickets are $15.
Saturday, Dec. 9 | Puppy Pictures with Santa | Black Mountain Recreation Center
Dogs love the holidays too. Santa Claus is visiting Henderson to meet and pose for pictures with your pup. A digital picture will be sent to your personal email. You may also bring your own camera. Registration is $3.
Saturday, Dec. 9 | Christmas Cookie Decorating | Henderson Multigenerational Center
Each child will get to decorate a dozen cookies, with a wide variety of frosting colors, sprinkles and holiday decorations. $20 for food supplies is due at class. Registration is $7.50.
Saturday, Dec. 16 | Santa’s Workshop | Valley View Recreation Center
Drop the kids off with us so you can finish your last-minute shopping. At Santa’s Workshop, children will make a take-home present and design their own wrapping paper. The event also features games, pizza lunch and a whole lot of holiday cheer. Registration is $20 and closes Dec. 10.
Saturday, Dec. 16 | Candy Cane Festival | Heritage Park Aquatic Complex
Celebrate the magic of winter with us. Festivities include games, bounce house, treats, and our famous underwater candy cane hunt. Kids can also get ready for the holiday season by writing and mailing a letter to Santa. Bring a new or gently used coat to donate to a local nonprofit and admission is free. Parents must be in the water with children under the age of 8. Registration is $5.
Saturday, Dec. 16 | Whitney Wonderland | Whitney Ranch Recreational Center
|Join us for a light breakfast before our annual reindeer games, toy making in Santa’s workshop and holiday story telling with some amazing elves. Photo opportunities with Santa are available,, please bring your own camera. Price is per person entering the event, children under 2 years are free. Registration is $10 and closes Dec. 13.
Saturday, Dec. 16 | Reindeer Dash 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk | Cornerstone Park
Make a dash from Cornerstone Park to Pittman Wash Trail this winter for a jolly good time. Participants are encouraged to don their most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Souvenir T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 participants. All fitness levels are welcome. 5K Run registration fees start at $25, 1-mile walk registration fees start at $20.
Dec. 16-21 | Escape Room Series: How the Grinch Stole Christmas | Downtown Recreation Center
Looking for something fun to do with the family? Each reservation time slot holds a maximum of 10 participants from the same household. Registration is $15 per person and ends on Dec. 9.
Sunday, Dec. 17 | Winter Solstice | Bird Viewing Preserve
Come celebrate winter solstice at the BVP! We welcome families to celebrate the changing of the seasons with us. Enjoy refreshments and make winter solstice-themed crafts such as bird feeders, honeycomb beeswax candles, and lanterns. Registration is $10.
