Pacific Concert Group and Q100.5’s Nightmare on Q Street returns to Orleans Arena on Saturday, October 14, celebrating 50 years of hip-hop.
Starring rap icon and headliner Ice Cube, the concert will feature top ‘90s and ‘00s hip-hop and rap artists E-40, Warren G, the Ying Yang Twins and Amanda Perez.
Los Angeles native, Ice Cube, burst into the West Coast hip-hop scene in 1986, with the rap group C.I.A., shortly followed by the widespread popularity of his lyrics on N.W.A.’s 1988 album “Straight Outta Compton.” Ice Cube went on to release other successful studio albums as well as starring in popular movies including “Trespass,” “Three Kings,” the “Barbershop” franchise films and more.
Ice Cube is recognized as one of the most successful rappers, songwriters, actors and producers in hip-hop history selling more than 10 million records worldwide. In 2016, Ice Cube was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of N.W.A.
Rapper and entrepreneur E-40 made his rap debut in 1986 as a founding member of rap group The Click with his brother D-Shot, sister Suga T and cousin B-Legit.
The group garnered a large following in the West Coast, but it wasn’t until the release of his solo album, “In a Major Way,” that E-40 charted on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
E-40 is also the founder of Sick Wid It Records, an independent record label representing artists like Too Short, Bandz Talk and more. E-40’s music has appeared on numerous movie soundtracks and in 2006, the platinum-selling artist rose to mainstream popularity with the single “Tell Me When to Go,” produced by Lil Jon.
Rounding out the show’s lineup are Warren G, the Ying Yang Twins and Amanda Perez.
Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets start at $42.20 plus tax and fees, and can be purchased online at www.orleansarena.com.
