Las Vegas’ only hip-hop concert residency show opens at Westgate Las Vegas.
Legendary ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s hip-hop artists CeeLo Green, Tone Lōc, Kid ‘N Play, J.J. Fad, Thea Austin of SNAP!, and DJ Eric B. kicked off Las Vegas’ only hip-hop concert residency show with the premiere of “BoomBox!” at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on Wed., Aug. 31.
Cee-Lo opened the show with his eccentric hit, “Crazy,” followed by Thea Austin, whose passion didn’t let a torn ACL get in the way of a killer performance of her pop hit anthem, “Rhythm is a Dancer,” all while in four-inch heels.
Throughout the show, Kid ‘N Play hopped on the microphone between sets, entertaining the crowd with their witty banter and iconic performance of their own.
No Vegas residency launch is complete without a surprise opening night guest – concertgoers were thrilled when lead guitarist Tom Higgenson of the Plain White T’s, appeared to surprise fans with a performance of his mega-hit Grammy-nominated song, “Hey There Delilah.”
Mid-way through the show, the crowd went wild when CeeLo encouraged fans to join him in an impromptu conga “party” line, which he led throughout the theater before blowing them a kiss and hopping back on stage.
J.J. Fad commanded the room’s attention with a vibrant performance of their ‘80s hit, “Supersonic,” complete with matching neon-colored sequin bomber jackets and breakdancers.
During Tone Lōc’s highly anticipated performance of “Wild Thing,” he welcomed 25 or so excited fans to dance and sing alongside him on stage.
