DISCOPUSSY, the after-hours dance haven at 512 E. Fremont St., is announcing a new residency with rising house and techno DJ, Mary Droppinz, on Saturday, Jan. 8 and Friday, April 8.
The “To The Moon” residency will showcase Mary Droppinz’s eclectic blend of experimental, acid, house, g house, hip hop, and more across the two show dates. Each night will begin at 10 p.m. and feature support by DJ Shaun and Phoenixx.
Mary Droppinz’s fascination with rhythm began when growing up in her native Omaha, Nebraska, playing piano and learning from her father, a seasoned drummer. She carried that musical influence all the way to her current home of Los Angeles, working at Native Instruments by day and being enthralled by music long into the night. With refined technical expertise, Mary Droppinz has performed across the United States, becoming one of the strongest selectors in Southern California.
In the wake of COVID, Mary Droppinz kept the energy alive by streaming sets on Twitch, performing on her own channel as well as popular mainstays including Abracadabra, Femme House, Bandsintown and Desert Hearts where she frequently books streams with talent like Anabel Englund, LP Giobbi and Sofi Tukker.
