On Monday, August 8, SAHARA Las Vegas team members distributed backpacks filled with school supplies to underprivileged students during the first day of school at Robert E. Lake Elementary School as part of the property’s SAHARA Cares initiative.
Last month on Saturday, July 23, 17 SAHARA team members volunteered their time to help fill these backpacks provided by local business Foodie Fit with much-needed school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, crayons and folders.
Last week on Thursday, August 4, SAHARA Las Vegas team members surprised Robert E. Lake Elementary School faculty and students with a treasure chest containing trinkets and toys as well as a number of other gifts to welcome them back to the classroom for the new school year.
The treasure chest was specially handcrafted and built by the engineering team at SAHARA featuring lion accents to honor the school’s mascot. Additionally, the property donated requested books, children’s shoes and children’s clothing.
Robert E. Lake Elementary School also received another surprise from SAHARA Las Vegas last month on Wednesday, July 27, when they delivered 210 pieces of furniture to the school. These pieces of furniture were donated from the hotel remodel and included items such as couches, desks and lamps.
“We are beyond grateful for the generous team members at SAHARA Las Vegas. Not only did they volunteer their time to stuff backpacks and build the treasure chest, but they also donated much-needed supplies for our students,” said Paola Zepher, principal of Robert E. Lake Elementary School. “It’s moments like these that truly make an impact on the lives of students and our school community as a whole. We know these gifts of the heart will help our scholars and staff succeed this school year.”
