- First Friday’s Featured Artist – Tara Banfield is a self-taught contemporary oil painter who uses bold, bright colors in her work. As the daughter of a single mother with strong black women surrounding her all her life, her paintings pay homage to those women. Tara’s father was also an artist, introducing her to painting. Tara has displayed her work since 2000 in galleries and studios throughout her hometown of Chicago. She was a resident artist at 4Art studio in ZhouB gallery for 3 years and a resident artist at Cornerstone Studio for 11 years. Her work is on display on her website www.tarabanfieldart.com.
