Morton Group’s Popular Mexican Eatery and Party Bar Returns after Several-Month Closure Due to State Mandates.
Morton Group’s fun and funky La Comida, located at 100 S. Sixth St., will bring its signature cocktails and authentic Mexican cuisine back to downtown Las Vegas on Wednesday, March 4. The popular eatery and cantina closed several months ago in response to state mandates.
“As restrictions continue to loosen, we’re seeing a return to the vibrancy of downtown Las Vegas,” said Michael Morton, founder of La Comida along with his wife, Jenna Morton. “We feel like the timing is right for us to reopen our doors, get our people back to work, and bring the good times back to La Comida.”
Known for its impressive collection of tequilas, La Comida can please even the most discerning connoisseur. Plus, the bar offers an array of fresh fruit cocktails, inspired by the fresh, tropical fruits of Baja. They include several house margaritas, including prickly pear, tamarind, strawberry and guava. The siempre caliente, which translates to “always spicy,” is made with jalapeno-infused blanco tequila, passionfruit, house-made sour and signature hot sauce. La Comida also serves craft and Mexican beers as well as Jarritos Mexican sodas.
La Comida’s cuisine is inspired by the cosmopolitan flavors of Mexico City and made with traditional cooking methods and ingredients. Prepared by chef Mario Garcia, favorites include carne asada, made with cucumber, radish, charred red onion and aji Amarillo dressing; authentic pozole, made with hominy, pork, onion, shredded cabbage and radish; and chicken tamales made with tomatillo, sour cream and house-made slaw. Among La Comida’s tacos are sea bass a la Baja, tempura battered and served with house-made slaw, chipotle mayo, pickled radish and pico de gallo; and al pastor, made with guajillo pork, pineapple, guacatillo salsa, onion and cilantro. House specialties include puerco ahumado, smoked pork shoulder with avocado sauce and pickled onion; and chili relleno, a battered stuffed poblano pepper, queso fresco, ranchera sauce, cilantro and jalapeno cream.
La Comida follows all health and safety standards set by the State of Nevada, including all social distancing and capacity mandates. Reservations are available by calling 702.463.9900 or online at www.lacomidalv.com
