Netball, with its roots in women’s basketball, has been played throughout the world for over 110 years. Now an International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized sport, Netball America is expanding the game across the USA. “We are currently introducing Netball into schools across the country with Clark County Las Vegas teachers being the latest! They are currently undergoing virtual and in-person clinics on our USA Netball Net Together Curriculum. We have 100 schools running our Netball programs.” says Sonya Ottaway, Netball America Director.
“Netball is Australia’s most popular women’s team sport and there is a huge push for inclusion in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. It’s great to see that Netball America is making great strides to introduce the game to youth in schools across America, while also supporting the Australian and other nations’ expatriate communities.”, says Ambassador Jane Duke, Australian Consulate-General Los Angeles, California. Jane will also be present at the event.
About Netball:
The biggest differences between basketball and netball – no backboard, no dribbling, no contact, 3 seconds to pass or shoot the ball and defending the person with the ball from 3 feet away. A true team sport and great for co-ed play where all genders and ages can play on the same team or against each other. It doesn’t matter the size or fitness level there is a position on court for everyone.
