  • Lexicon Bank, Nevada’s community-focused banking partner, today announced that City of Las Vegas Councilman Cedric Crear has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Councilman Crear brings more than ten years of community and executive leadership to the board, including roles as a former Commissioner for the Las Vegas Planning Commission, former representative for the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, and former marketing director for Station Casinos. "It is an honor to serve on the Board of Directors for Lexicon Bank, alongside many smart and dedicated leaders of our community,” said City of Las Vegas Councilman Cedric Crear. Committed to having leadership that is representative of the community, Lexicon Bank empowers its bankers and team to embrace an inclusive culture. Embracing different perspectives that represent the clients they serve allows Lexicon Bank to provide exceptional, concierge-like customer service that exceeds client expectations. ”I am elated with the coincidental timing of my confirmation, being the start of Black History Month. The Bank’s commitment to a diverse leadership and workforce confirmed my decision to accept the invitation to join the board, and I look forward to being a part of a robust and diverse board that reflects the multicultural community the bank serves." Executive Profile on Councilman Crear Councilman Cedric Crear represents Ward 5 for the City of Las Vegas. He won the March 2018 special election to complete the council term that ended in 2019. He was then re-elected to a full four-year term in April 2019. Councilman Crear has a deep passion for the Las Vegas community and describes his style as one who “leads by example.” Before taking office, Councilman Crear worked for Station Casinos as a marketing director, where he proved himself a capable leader while working at the company's most elite properties. Since then, he has gone on to found CrearMagnum, which provides full-service marketing, advertising and consulting solutions to regional and global businesses. Councilman Crear has served as president of the company since it was founded in 2010 and currently serves as president of Crear Outdoor Advertising. Earlier in his career, Crear served on the Board of Regents for the Nevada System of Higher Education. He was first elected in 2006 and was re-elected in 2012 as the representative for District 1 in Clark County. During that time he served as chair of the Cultural Diversity and Title IX Compliance Committee and vice chair of the Business, Finance and Facilities and Investment committees. Councilman Crear is an extremely active leader in the Southern Nevada community. In 2015, he was appointed as a Las Vegas Planning Commissioner. He also served as a board member of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, chairman of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross, and Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority. Other organizations that he currently serves includes: Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department - Fiscal Affairs Committee Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition Economic Opportunity Board Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial Local Law Enforcement Advisory Committee Southern Nevada Enterprise Community Board Southern Nevada Water Authority Justice Douglas Pre-Law Fellowship Board Nevada League of Cities Executive Board National League of Cities National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials “It is so exciting as a community-based banking institution for Councilman Crear to join us,” said Stacy Watkins, President and CEO of Lexicon Bank. “With his leadership, expertise, and background at the forefront, I have complete confidence that we will continue our mission to build back into the community we serve. His experience as a community leader and businessman in Southern Nevada puts us in a strong position to build a financial institution that works for our clients.” Councilman Crear earned a bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he received a tennis scholarship. He was also captain of the team for three years and a two-time conference champion. Crear is a proud husband and father to two daughters.
